Degathing, as it's commonly known, is the act of beating someone up with a lobster. While degathing can be done to anyone, the word originally meant hitting a child under the age of 9 over the head with a lobster. The word degath originated from vernacular slang around the Tampa Bay area in Florida, where the action is commonly associated with hooliganism. degathing is occasionally used as a last resort method of settling a dispute, although it's extremely rare, due to the murky legality surrounding it.
