Toùmi The lovely sweet piece of crappy fabric you softly stomp on as you come back from the garden or the terrasse, that kind of rug meant to be the angular stone of the living room decor for your sweetheart, the one they prefer which deserves attention and outstanding compliments. This is a south of France origin word, Mouans-Sartoux culture production. Nobody’s allowed to say this word as any other : one shall instead deeply and exuberantly insist on the “Toù”, hiding the “mi” which comes next. The best pronouncers almost shout the “Toù”, even during a standard and cool conversation. The Toùmi is not the regular ugly carpet you have behind the main house door, it is the Premier League level carpet stuck to the bay widows. Over time, this word has also been commonly used to designate any official or ceremonial carpet (inaugurations, presidential receptions, Champions League, Olympic Games, etc.).
