Embracing rave culture as one’s religious beliefs, typically encompassing the teachings of PLUR (peace, love, unity, respect) and connecting to others and the universe through music and dancing. Raveligious beliefs are not limited to one single outlook but typically incorporate the unification of different theological ideas often centering around the idea that we are all a part of one great universe and we exist to have a unique experience. Raveligion is typically practiced at edm festivals in which individuals gather, often bringing a hand-made totem to keep track of their group in the crowd. They are encouraged to dress however they want and bring various trinkets to exchange with strangers they become friends with during the gatherings. The spiritual or recreational use of psychedelics as well as new age practices like astrology and tarot cards are often utilized by raveligious individuals but the open-ended nature of the belief system allows for one to hold the same values without partaking in the additional popular practices. Some raveligious individuals claim raveligion as their soul belief system while others hold these beliefs in addition to another belief system.
