A language spoken in the Southern French region of France. 🇫🇷 It is a Romance language that actually isn’t related to French at all, but apparently has more in common with the Catalan language of Northeastern Spain, coincidentally. Gascon, a dialect of Occitan spoken in Gascony, Southwest France, is often considered its own distinct language. And the majority of people in that region long ago once considered themselves Basques and likely once spoke dialects of Basque and Aquitanian, but were eventually replaced with Latin following Romanization.
