That moment a conservative or right-wing commentator stops pretending to admire Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and admits they never really cared for the man (or the Civil Rights movement in general) after all. King flipping falls just a tad short of actually defending segregation or Jim Crow. The conservative making these statements will typically just say that the civil rights activists and the segregationists were both bad in their own way. However, don’t expect him or her to maintain this stance for long. Once someone has King flipped, their metamorphosis from a conservative into a full-blown white supremacist is almost guaranteed, and likely to happen soon.
