A brown nightmare is the name for when a person shits themselves in their sleep. A brown nightmare could be the result of an actual nightmare and pooping yourself out of fear, the product of a sickness such as the flu or Covid, or the result of eating greasy food before falling asleep. A brown nightmare is NOT the result of a chronic disease such as Crohn's or IBS. It is also not related to the aptly named "sleeping shits".
