A Retford flap is one in which a minimum of 5 hours is taken for a flap to be raised. It is not restricted to a specific flap or area of the body. All flaps can be considered to be Retford if there are severe delays and cancellations that affect the smooth running of operations. Often a queue will be formed as a result.
