Channahon is a small town in Illinois about 15 miles Southwest of Joliet and 10 miles Northeast of Morris Illinois. It sits less than a mile away from the town of Minooka Illinois. In 2023, Channahon is NOT an affluent town. If I am honest it never was. A lot of people look at the reports from The Grundy County Development Center and get excited when they see the median income. (Median is the middle number in a range not the average) The per capita income per person is just $32,000.00. This means the average wage per family is only $64,000. For reference: Gas Station clerks make more than 32k a year. That wage is paying a 30 year fixed mortgage on a 400k-500k house with yearly property taxes between 8,000-12,000 dollars. When you factor in utilities, groceries, and other expenses into a budget with a salary of 64k you really begin to understand why so many people leave this town. The people of Channahon are not affluent. If you want affluent take a drive to Lake Barrington or Lake County Illinois.
