Katawa Shoujo is a 2012 Visual Novel created by 4 Leaf Studios, where you play as a transfer student who's trying to come to terms with the fact and stigma of being a disabled student in a school for the disabled. There you meet 5 girls each with their own disabilities and ways of dealing with it. Although there are a few NSFW scenes, it's not the main focus and is only present in specific scenes which can be toggled off. The Visual Novel was created by 4 Leaf Studios, a studio which was formed by a select few anons of 4Chan, after the concept of Katawa Shoujo was thrown on the forums on 2007. Development started chaotically, with anons throwing ideas of how the game would play out, and what scenes should play out and all that. But after a while, a few people stepped up to formally develop the game in a orderly manner. The group would then go by 4 Leaf Studios, named after the clover symbol of 4Chan. After 5 years of development hell, Katawa Shoujo was released on January 4th, 2012 on the PC for free, which it still is today. Afterwards, 4 Leaf Studios would disband to work on their own personal projects.
