"Kvitekrist" is an old norwegian name for Jesus Christ, directly translated, white christ. In a time where the colour white was linked to purity, it was meant to separate the christian faith from the supposedly evil teachings of norse mythology. Now, many people find that ironic and mildly amusing, seeing as how Norway was christened. Farmers were dragged to their sheds, heads placed on the chopping block. They were then given the choice between accepting christ or getting a swift chop from the sword.
