A word that should be pronounced "nish." Why? 1.) Because people waste too much time trying to decide how they "should" pronounce it. "Nitch?" "Neesh?" Let's standardize it and make it easy. 2.) If you don't pronounce it the way the person you're talking to pronounces it, you might be labeled anything from pompous to plebeian. Why should we have to endure this anxiety? Let's all just agree that it should be pronounced "nish."
