Buying lots of worthless items and in coincidence, said worthless item goes up in value and demand, making you a profit. This phrase is named after Timothy Dexter, who was known for being stupid and taking bad advice to buy or send useless items that was meant to make him poor, but ended up making him a profit due to coincidence of high demand.
