L7A1/L7A2, the british General Purpose Machine gun (GPMG) affectionately named the "Gimpy" is the principle machine gun of the british army. Firing the 7.62 X 51mm NATO cartirdge at a rate of fire of 750 RPM, the weapon has a range of 800 M in the light role (used on a bipod) and 1800 M in sustained fire role (fitted to a tripod).
