Laughing at something or someone not because you deem it funny, But based on other factors that may include: Friends laughing at it, It being socially acceptable/pressured to laugh, Someone tells a joke and you don't want them to feel bad so you laugh. This is very similar to Crocodile Tears in the matter that one party is tricking another party into thinking they feel a way they actually don't. This is similar to fake laughing but crocodile laughs are barely/not noticeable compared to fake laughing, you can usually tell if they are sincere or not. This can also be inverted by not laughing at something you think is funny. This can be a common practice in bullying or gaslighting when a group of people laugh at one joke but they don't think it's funny, they just want the other party to feel bad.
