Bacterial Vaginosis, also known as gardnerella, is overgrowth of bacteria normally present in the vagina. Women of childbearing age who experience this condition will notice a foul-smelling, “fishy” vaginal odor that includes a gray or white discharge and vaginal itching. The imbalance in vaginal bacteria may be caused by douching, not using condoms during sex, or having new or multiple sex partners. It has been reported on social media that the best treatment for BV is drinking a half-cup of cranberry juice mixed with a half-cup of pineapple juice before going to bed along with drinking a gallon of water throughout the day.
