Def^1 A simp is a person who is unilaterally extremely biased towards someone they find attractive, catering to them excessively in Hopes of getting their attention. Simping is often accompanied by negative traits like insecurity(where, by exposing others negative traits, a simp will attempt to make themeselves more attractive) a superiority complex or narcissism ( where they believe extreme actions like large sums of money or constant attention will be rewarded with love )

When a simp very strongly sides with a specific girl that is being accused, criticized, or insulted(and especially so if over the internet) they will be called white knights.

Simping is not to be mistaken with simple compliments, or a natural effort of a person to make a move, this is because it sits on a fine line, varying in severity from person to person and is only truly defined when the action is very extreme(ex:buying cars,clearing debts,organizing vacations,ecc...) and/or repeated often over time(driving them around , paying for meals to hang out,ecc.)

Def^2 Alternatively it's used in a negative connotation synonymous to adjectives like: naive, gullible or easy to manipulate.
