Originally intended to describe a cat performing an act of self satisfaction with both hind legs pointing straight up in the air. Subsequently expanded to include similar activities such as cleaning and allowing for only a single leg raised vertically or close to it. Origin of the word is the name of a cat (Kakuk) that was notorious for perfecting the technique.
