A fictional creature from Bavarian folklore that is said to inhabit the dense forests of the region. Descriptions of the fotzä vary widely, but it is generally believed to be a small, furry mammal with large, expressive eyes and a mischievous personality. According to legend, the fotzä enjoys playing tricks on unwary travelers, such as leading them off the beaten path or hiding their belongings. Despite its reputation for being a nuisance, the fotzä is also regarded as a symbol of good luck and is sometimes invoked by hunters and woodsmen to ensure a successful hunt or a safe journey through the woods.
