A physical retail business that rents pre-recorded media such as feature films, TV shows, video game discs and other media. They were popular from the 1980s until the 2010s. Starting in the late 2000s to early 2010s, they are rendered largely obsolete by the emergence of video on demand and streaming services. Few rental stores have survived to present day.
