They carry a Bible (or other supposed authority) in their hands to proclaim their authenticity and are an embarrassment to the very words of that holy book". Jesus was not a "religious nut". He never said to worship him, but merely be a good person and help others to enjoy a happy life. The scriptures venerate wisdom, reason, and above all, love and charity! Jesus wore a peasant's cloak and rode a donkey as a sign his humility. He wasn't a lunatic TV con artist in a $800K suit, sporting a $65M super-jet, and $200M mansion staffed with Playboy Bunnies !!!
