Adjective (Slang) Also bour·gie bur-zhee, ‐jee, boo‐ Often Disparaging and Offensive. 1. Relating to or characteristic of a person who indulges in some of the luxuries and comforts of a fancy lifestyle but plays it off by claiming to be down-to-earth, blue collar, or middle class. 2. Relating to or characteristic of a person who belongs in the upper middle class but claims to be working class or blue collar, especially when regarded as being elitist or snobbish by other blue collar people. 3. Relating to or characteristic of a person who flaunts knowledge of all the "best" shops, restaurants, etc., without necessarily embracing the cultural values and pretensions of the upper middle class.
