A stereotype in many parts of American culture — including the workplace. Studies show people in organizations believe Black women are more likely to have belligerent, contentious, and angry personalities, an assumption not as readily assigned to other men and women when engaging in the same activity. Definition is paraphrased from a Harvard Business Review Source. The ABW stereotype is so prevalent, that people who have never experienced the blowback from being passionate about a cause as a Black Woman, really believe she exists. They therefore define her in cheeky, racist and stereotypical terms as some 'angry "sista" with a bad or "street" attitude.' They don't realize the behavioral science behind the ignorance...and in defining the term incorrectly the become part of the problem.
