A person from the upper part of Michigan (upper and lower peninsula) that comes to the lower part of Michigan. The reason it is called Bunyan is because of the famous lumberjack Paul Bunyan and the pioneer settlers of the 1820s found a land covered by dense stands of virgin timber; scarcely 50 years later, Michigan was the leading lumber producer in the nation.
