A villain's explanation of their motives or evil plot details to a protagonist, victim, or subordinate, usually in a condescending or patronizing way. Villains in this context may include, but are not limited to, the following: antagonists in movies, antagonists on TV, final bosses, regular bosses, antagonists in written media, mega billionaires, politicians, that one asshole who always tries to unrightfully justify their shitty actions. Similar to monologuing, although not all monologuing is villainsplaining. Often coupled with gloating.
