(1) A society living under the late-stage hegemonic rule of social media, which has been reduced to its most ridiculous, suspect, unverified, and useless form -- i.e., an endless individualized algorithmic feed of short, often obnoxious, assertion-filled videos created by random persons one does not know nor has any reason to believe or trust. (2) A society experiencing a rapid erosion of veracity and rigor, and an explosion of inattention and confirmation bias.
