the action of using the 'hate speech' or 'incitement to hatred' reporting features on content-hosting websites with the goal of removing content from public view. usually used when one's feelings have been hurt; with internet users becoming more sensitive, is therefore used increasingly on content that isn't really that bad, or on content that is 100% scientific/factual/objective without need for subjective opinion, making the content-hosting websites more tame and less interesting over time. an example of the tragedy of the commons.
