when one makes an obscure off-the-wall reference in conversation specifically and solely for the purpose of fishing for further inquiry, allowing for the opportunity to explain something they find interesting, then pivot and talk about themselves ad nauseum. This tactic is cunningly deployed to deceive younger and more naive audiences into believing the individual is so interesting that others are asking to know more about them; when in fact they were not interested in the individual, but merely weren't aware of the obscure reference, and dared to ask about it. Those caught in the noorsplaining trap will often find themselves confused and bewildered as to how the conversation got to where it did and with no recollection, while the individual continues to talk about themselves covering topics as wide ranging as the universe itself.
