Scholarly definition: This is a term originating from African American Vernacular English (AAVE). It has no “clean” translation in Standard American English (SAE) due to the power implications that are attached to the positionality of most speakers of AAVE. Essentially, it is a term that intentionally obscures the details of the activities in question. The reason for such obfuscation is to obstruct the morality of the dominant class from being imposed upon the underprivileged. Such a morality places heavy emphasis on decisions of subjects and does not include the role of structures in understanding the decision-making process
