Can also be rendered as "Western Propaganda". A scapegoat used by socialists, communists, and other Marxists to justify the failing regimes of Marxist-Leninist parties. (see Cuba, China, the Soviet Union, etc.) Rather than addressing the reasons for why the regime failed, or why their policies fail- they instead choose to blame the failures on the west, and that their failures were exaggerated by "western propaganda". This may also alternatively be used (quite rarely) by right-wingers, however it is much rarer and often tied back to Russia and its war with Ukraine.
