The diffusion of water molecules from an area where water molecules are in high concentration to a region they are in lower concentration through a permeable membrane. An example of Osmosis is when you pour salt on slugs or snails and the water is pulled out of the cells of the snail's body through a process called Osmosis. This leads to snails to shrivel, bubble up and die within a several minutes as a result of dehydration.
