Because he didn't want to name it directly after his last name, He decided to add random letters into the mix to make it sound French so that people at his school wouldn't associate it with him at the time. However after 9 years of the fad becoming larger and larger he admitted to being the inventor of Coughing, To which he was laughed out of the room.
