In PvP (player vs player) servers, when building a base you 'honeycomb' your entrance. You build mazes by connecting rooms with multiple rooms with doors. You start with a door, which after breaking leads the enemy into a room with 3 doors, which lead either to a dead end or to another room with doors, etc. This way the player has to break down each door in order to break into your base, significantly slowing down their progress. The more doors you add, the longer it takes for the enemy to actually enter your base.
