(Serbo-Croatian, n.) This is an extremely offensive word towards Muslims that are native to the Balkans, in a rough translation it means "turkified" or to "turn into a little turk". Primarily used by Serbs and to a lesser extent Croats, this word has historical connotations to the Ottoman campaign in the Balkans where they held the region for roughly 500-600 years. During this time, many have converted to Islam and have been given prominence in Ottoman society and well-paying job opportunities, hence to "turn into little turks". To the Christians of the region, they see this as "betraying their forefathers who have rejected Christ and converted to Islam becauss they wouldve been killed for not doing so", even though there are various for the highly reported coversions in the region such as being persecuted by Serbs/Croats/other Christian-dominated groups, or merely due to land ownership opportunities. Normally, this word could be used against Bosnians, Albanians, and Torbeš Macedonians.
