The imaginary floating island full of whores defined in Gulliver's Travels, a novel that is written by Jonathan Swift. It's "full of whores" because "la puta" in Spanish (and maybe in Catalan and Filipino) means the whore, which Swift knew and got the name for his island. This makes everything named after it sound hilarious, for example : Hayao Miyazaki's Laputa -> Whore in the sky Mazda Laputa -> Mazda's whore car Laputa Regio (region of Phobos, a moon of Mars) -> Whore region
