A common mistranslation for 'firearms' or 'gunpowder weapons' by people machine-translating from Chinese to English. This is done by breaking '热兵器' into '热' (hot) and '兵器' (weapon), rather than translating it as a single gestalt entity. (Much like translating 'Kindergarten' in a German text as 'children's garden'.) The same misreading often results in mistranslation as 'thermal weapons'.
