Current definition: Selling illegal drugs, often inside of abandoned buildings known as "trap houses." It has two meanings. 1. Selling drugs is a never-ending career because once a person has a felony drug conviction, it becomes difficult to earn legit money. They are "trapped." 2. The act of luring drug users to a shop. Using drugs is also a trap. Drug dealers are simply catching them. Location of origin: Atlanta, Georgia (allegedly) First mainstream use of the world: T.I.'s second studio album, Trap Muzik (2003). This was T.I.'s break-out album, which was so popular that it changed the sound of rap music and launched the rise of rap music in other southern regions, such as Miami, Memphis, and Houston. Trap Musik is often regarded as the original trap album.
