Barber Beats is a subgenre of Vaporwave, which itself is a microgenre of electronic music. It was first developed in the mid-to-late 2010's by the artist 'Haircuts for Men' hence the naming of the subgenre. It consists of music that has a generally minimalist approach, often sampling from 80's jazz music and being simple in arrangement. It's a rather chill and atmospheric type of sound. Most of the time Barber Beats albums have Google Translated Japanese names for songs. Known artists of this subgenre, other than HFM, include Macroblank, DARKNESS and Monodrone.
