Autism is a neurotype. A neurotype is a type of brain, and the main change that it does is how the brain interprets and responds to social cues. The easiest way of describing an autistic person is just that their brain works slightly different. That’s all. Also being ableist is stupid so please just try to think about what you say before you say it. Autism is a spectrum. Not a functioning line. Not every autistic person is the same. There are also a lot of common co-morbidities so lots of autistic people with have some other mental illness or disorder, like ADHD, anxiety or depression. Written by an actual autistic person :)
