Zhu, one of the Chinese surnames, is a typical multi-ethnic and multi-origin family name, mainly derived from Ji, Qi, zi and the minority changed family name. Zhu Xiang is revered as the first ancestor of the Zhu family name. Zhu was ranked 17th in the Song dynasty edition of The Hundred Family Names. In Chinese history, there were two dynasties founded by Zhu, the Ming dynasty founded by Zhu Yuanzhang, and the later Liang dynasty founded by Zhu Wen during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms.
