Mrityunjay is an Indic Noun in Hindi language, "Mrityu" means death and "jay" means victory. The name was coined for son of a priest. The priest was a devotee of Lord Shiva from Indian mythologies. Through devinition skills mastered by the priest he could tell the life span of his new born kid. The kid supposedly had to die at young age. Lord shiva seeing the condition of his follower melted and prophecized that the boy will live as per his life timeline which was 1000000000000000 times slower than the time on earth. Hence on earth the boy was named as "Mrityunjay" the one who has achieved victory over death.
