The continuance of evolution, by technological or biotechnological means, outwith and beyond the constraints of ordinary human (or non-human) biological evolutionary processes. Extravolution is a sudden exponential branching off from biological evolution which establishes a new paradigm. This process is currently underway in human society and will accelerate exponentially as our technological development allows us to merge with human-created technologies to become superhuman in our capabilities. It could be argued that extravolution, although dramatic in its effect, is a natural and logical part of the evolutionary process.
