1. A derogatory term used by historically oppressed people and others to belittle white people. 2. Originally from the sound of a slave master's whip. Has been used to identify oppressive, racist, ignorant, whites. Whites who feel threatened by these oppressed and disadvantaged people will say that a black person calling a white person "cracker" or "honkey" is the same as a white person calling a black person "nigger." While the derogatory implications are similar, only "nigger" has been used by a people of power to enslave, victimize, rape, inprison, and institutionally oppress blacks. "Cracker" does not have this history.
