Maitena is a word used to refer to a person who is ambitious, treacherous, envious, competitive, and who does misrepresentation. It is something like what is popularly known as "sharp tongue" or "lizard" (and variations like "snake", "bad woman", "traitorous friend, you never laugh, never cry", etc). It can also be interpreted as that person who "goes in the back" or "stabs daggers in the back". Surely you know someone who fits the description very well. But not everything in this adjective is bad, the people that this word represents are also very hard-working, applied seductive and perfectionists. Even so, its negative connotation is more powerful and famous. This word has no gender but it does have number; singular: maitena, plural: maitenas
