What is One Direction? One Direction was a pop band formed on the 23rd of July 2010. The band consists of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik. Originally, the five boys auditioned on the X Factor as solo singers but a demon named Simon Cowell put them into a group together. They went all the way through X Factor but came 3rd place. They decided to stay as a band and in 2011 released their single What Makes You Beautiful. They then released their first album Up All Night. In 2012 they released their second album Take Me Home, 2013 released their third album Midnight Memories, 2014 they released their fourth album Four. In March 2015 during their world tour, Zayn Malik unfortunately left One Direction to have a solo career. One Direction then released their last and fifth album Made in the A.M. which includes their last ever song as a band, History. The boys’ told the fandom (Directioners) that they were going on an 18 month break but have not come back in 6 years. Since the break they have gone off to have their own solo careers in music and even some in movies.
