When protections for protected classes, including historically discriminated communities, are afforded to historically privileged groups. For instance, Blacks are prosecuted more often for hate crimes than are Whites, when Blacks were intended to be protected against hate crimes. Background: New York Nassau County Legislator Josh Lafazan introduced a bill that identifies county police as a protected class. Such a bill will have the effect of prosecuting those demanding reforms and changes in a historically biased police force.
