Savarnaverse is a universe just like a cinematic universe, only thing here is that this universe is real with its rules, regulations, culture etc. Its a white-west worshipping universe created by and for the savarna people. Us ‘others’ need to follow these rules in order to get anything in life, like: a good career, education, money, love, friendship or merely an existence. From food we eat to the media we consume, the heroes on the posters, politicians, Instagram influencers, what is good enough for dating, friendship, what is cool, what is not cool, music, dance, news anchors, shows, movies, everything is decided from the comfort of a savarna mindspace. It’s a universe where Dalit, Bahujan, Adivasi(DBA) people are aliens and its extremely difficult often deathly to form any kind of relationship. There is an invisible line of segregation in this universe that we as Bahujans can never cross because then we step into their comfort zone and make them uncomfortable. We are good enough to be associated with but not good enough to be close friends, good enough to be entertainers but not good enough to date. In this savarnaverse, DBA men are demonized and are unattractive while DBA women are overly sexualised, objectified for savarna people, it’s an invisible form of untouchability. We are just props for their shows, subjects for their thesis, a check box in their list to make themselves look morally good. They memorize our struggle and wear it like a medal around their necks.
