In the past Souls games there was this thing called hollowing which caused you to lose some features as well as some of your max hp when you died. Dark Souls 3 throws this out the window and death doesn't have any effect outside of losing souls. Unfortunately the map designers knew this and designed the game knowing that you could die as many times as you like. Absolutely wonderful.
