When an event, action, or circumstance causes one's known life and structure to radically shift in a detrimental direction, or fall apart suddenly. The loss or change is substantial, and can include the loss of employment or position, loss or rejection from friends, family, spouse, with being exiled from previously accessable social circles, and the loss of significant possessions such as vehicles, and home or living quarters.
