The term “wanighna” was originally created as another way of referring to 911, or basically just the police’s phone number in any country. It can be used globally. The spelling is based off of the pronunciation and an ancient word called “wanina”, which is no longer in usage. However, over the years, the meaning has altered and its been developed into a slang term that can refer to any emergency or important event where immediate help would be required. The word can also be used sarcastically and as a hyperbole. The abbreviation/shortened version of wanighna is “19a”.
