Stands for 'enabled female' or more specifically ‘male enabled female’ - A woman who needs a man to get her where she wants to be in life (her station/standing). A lame-o, a weakling, a non-independent, a ‘kept woman.’ Not to be confused with a ‘gold-digger.’ Enfems are just unable to make their way in life alone and by their own efforts. They always need a man (and sometimes his family) to afford things for them, do things for them and take them where they want to go. The opposite of the ‘strong, independent woman,’ Enfems often like to maintain the illusion that their lives are the result of their own or joint efforts and sometimes consider themselves above others (who are working hard and doing it for themselves). In reality, they are a sad, wreck of a creature that does not live up to the very being of a modern woman. See also ‘men who are mugs.’
